Hundreds of homes set for new development

HUNDREDS of homes, a bakery and a supermarket are to be built as part of a £ 90 million regeneration of an area of Glasgow. Clyde Gateway is heading a project which will regenerate the Dalmarnock area of the city’s East End.

There are currently more than 475 homes being built, with more in the pipeline, including 141 units at the Springfield Homes development on Dalmarnock Road.

More than half of the 48 homes being built at Keepmoat Homes on French Street are already reserved, with the occupiers due to move into the properties in April. Meanwhile, more homes are in the pipeline for the area, as The Swan Group is developing land adjacent to the Police Scotland HQ and has already built 151 properties.

Spectrum Properties, alongside its French Street development, is also in the process of planning more than 100 homes next to the Clyde.

Angela Rowley, head of property and development at Clyde Gateway, said: “The regeneration of the East End of Glasgow continues at pace with almost £ 90m of work currently underway in Dalmarnock.

“This is not just about building houses. It’s about creating attractive communities to live, work and play with all of the local amenities and green space to go with it.

“Clyde Gateway is spearheading this redevelopment and it is incredibly exciting to see the wide array of projects being delivered on the ground.”

In addition to the homes, Spectrum Properties was given the go- ahead to regenerate a B- listed former garment factory into a cafe and bakery and arts space, while Lidl was also given the green light to build a new 1904 sqm store.

Also due to be completed in the near future is the EastWorks development of the former purifier shed into contemporary office studios. All of these projects join the new £ 3.1m Riverside Park which was officially opened last year.
