GLASWEGIANS are being invited to share their favourite memories of Sir Billy Connolly for a special new project.

The National Theatre of Scotland has launched an interactive map for Scotland to demonstrate its love for the Big Yin ahead of the theatre’s acclaimed production, Dear Billy returning to stages next month.

Written and performed by theatre- maker Gary McNair, the production sees McNair gather up a series of interviews conducted with anyone and everyone with an opinion on Sir Billy.

With the production set to stop at the Pavilion Theatre between Wednesday, May 22 and Saturday, May 25, the theatre company has now launched the map as a living tribute to the Big Yin, showing all the places in the country that have a personal connection to the comedian.

Born at 69 Dover Street in Anderston, Sir Billy worked the shipyards of Glasgow’s Clydeside, before taking to the road with folk rock band The Humblebums.

Making his theatrical debut in 1972, Sir Billy toured around the globe and established himself as a comedy star after breaking box office records at Glasgow’s Pavilion Theatre in 1974.

He retired from live performance in 2018 and was awarded the BAFTA Fellowship for lifetime achievement in 2022.

Tickets for Dear Billy are still available and can be purchased via https:// shorturl. at/ ktwBI
