CHELTENHAM ‘biker’ Peter Vinicombe is preparing for a fundraising challenge to ride the 900 miles between Land’s End to John o’groats in just one day – in aid of local charity Heidi’s Heroes.

Peter, will be making the mammoth trip astride his gleaming Harley Davidson on August 23 and hopes to raise at least £1,000 for the Cheltenham-based charity that supports those with cancer, cares for the bereaved and gives courage to children learning to swim.

The estate planning consultant will set off from Land’s End before dawn and ride his way up the country with the aim of arriving before midnight the same day.

Peter bought his first Harley during a ‘midlife crisis’ nearly nine years ago and is a member of the Rolling Hills Harley Davidson Club.

He said:”i think the hardest part of the challenge will be sitting on the bike for nearly 24 hours and riding through any bad weather further north. My gluteus maximus will certainly know about it, and I just hope August 23 will continue fine and dry.”

Paul Wood, founder of Heidi’s Heroes, said: “This is quite a challenge even by Harley standards and we are delighted Peter has chosen to do it for Heidi’s Heroes. “
