Youde helps ladies hit top gear for prize

» ALMOST Athletes hosted the popular Bugatti 10K race with more than 270 athletes tackling a testing, undulating cours.

First home was Neil Laurenson (Black Pear Joggers) in 35.04 while Almost newcomer Helena Youde continued her blistering form as first lady home in 39.20.

First three Almosts home were Josh Hand 38.10, Simon Jarvis 39.00 and Prash Sripathi 39.07, while Ellie Laney 44.20 and Hattie Jenkins 42.38 followed Helena Youde home to claim the ladies team prize.

There were personal bests for Stacey Osmond in 45.33, Hollie Linton 48.05 and Ingrid Harris 48.14

Several Almosts stepped up to an ultra-distance for the first time at the Salisbury 54321 50K off road Ultra.

In the full 50K, Dave Rogers clocked a superb 4.31, Lepha Mccartan was delighted with her 5.46 and Andrew Wilkinson and Thom Stephens came home in 6.17.

Ingrid Harris and Allan Green completed the marathon distance in 4.09 and 5.06 respective­ly while Helen Fursman Reid delivered in the 33K challenge with 3.15

At the Birmingham Canal Canter marathon, which actually measured 27.5 miles, Mark andanne Marie Willicott made the most of a hot toast feed station at five miles en route to a time of 5.45.

At the Standish trail race the first three men home for the Almosts were Hand 1.05, Sripathi 1.08 and Shaun Carr 1.16.

For the ladies the top three were Lucinda Hand 1.22, Kim Mansell 1.23 and Lorraine Taylor 1:32.

Special mention should be made for visually impaired Almost Jayne Murphy who completed in 1:57 having been guided on his first experience at this by Robert Dalton-morris.

The race was a double header for many with the Cranham Boundary chase over the same weekend.

Almosts took the men’s team prize with Sripathi clocking 44.39, Carr 48.31 and Haiggy Mchaig 50.25.

For the ladies the top three was Harris, who finished first lady overall in 53.12, Hayley Woolnough 60.15 and Taylor 60.43.

Piotr Michalski completed his 50th Parkrun at Cheltenham.

Peter Morris scored a Parkrun PB of 20.36 as did Matt Proome in 18.59.

At Braunstone, Jo Foster was third lady in 20.20 while Martin Foster ran a personal best of 18:55.

Sue Monaghan was first in her category at Bakewell while Rich Smith clocked 31.47 at Wotton-under-edge and Iris Mayo was first in her category at Evesham.
