Lisa tuned in to chase her teaching dream with popular choice

-

LISA Phelps’ dream of becoming a teacher remains on course after her A-level results at Gloucester Academy.

But she is chasing her target with studying a slightly unusual subject after achieving a Distinction Star in music and a D in performing arts.

She said: “I am going to the University of Gloucestershire to study Pop Music at the Park Campus and also complete my PGCE.

“I am pleased with my results. I have been inspired by my first music teacher Rachael Auster to study music and I hope to be a secondary school teacher.”

Other pupils are determined to keep chasing a place at university.

Hayden Massey, 18 achieved a merit in music, B in art and design and E in physics.

He said: “I am going to retake physics and maths. The teachers are being really supportive.

“I am determined to go to Exeter University. I was surprised that I got a merit in music, but my music teacher helped me loads till the very end.”

Director of sixth form Ben Craig said: “A lot of hard work over the past two or more years has paid off.”

“Students are celebrating university placements including degrees at UWE, Wolverhampton, University of Gloucestershire, Cardiff Met, and Oxford Brookes, as well as a variety of apprenticeships.”
