Top grades opening up exciting futures for pupils
THE Cotswold School has again seen an outstanding set of A-level grades from its Sixth Form pupils.
The Bourton-on-the-water Academy has seen:
More than one third of all A-level grades awarded at A* or A
Two thirds of all A-level grades awarded at A*, A or B
Fourteen Cotswold School pupils (12 per cent) achieving three or more A* or A grades
Headteacher Will Morgan said: “These figures maintain the strong examination performance of The Cotswold School pupils and I am delighted to see such high grades.
“The new linear A-level examinations are tough and our pupils and staff have risen to the challenge.
“It is brilliant to see such a high proportion of top grades and to see the progress our pupils have made throughout their time at The Cotswold School.
“These results will open some fascinating and exciting doors to higher education and careers.”
Around half of all Year 13 pupils will further their studies at Russell Group universities, including Oxbridge. Individual highlights include: Jake Skelton followed his four A grades at AS Level with four A* grades in chemistry, physics, mathematics and further mathematics. He is going to Clare College, Cambridge to study natural sciences.
Rosie Mutsaars, who achieved an A* in history and A grades in English literature and French, is doing a four-year classics degree at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge.
Rebecca Hoadley is heading to University College London to study medicine after receiving two A* and two A grades in biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics.
Ellen Walkingshaw gained an A* in religious studies, an A in English literature and a B in French and will study theology and religion at Oxford.
Pablo Fyfe – A* in physics, mathematics and further Mathematics and an A in chemistry and in his Extended Project Qualification, University of Southampton to study aeronautics and astronautics.
Robbie Lord – A grades in French, history and Spanish, history and modern languages at Exeter.
Head boy Sam Blackman – A* in history, B in English literature and sociology, history at Bristol.
Luke Ellison – A* and three As in mathematics, further mathematics, physics and chemistry, electrical and electronic engineering at Southampton.
Zoe Jenkins – A*s in music and mathematics, B in history, music at Cardiff.
Jacob Hawley – A* in art, A in geography and B in English literature, fine art at The Glasgow School of Art.
Tom Pawley – A* in history, As in economics and geography, B in his EPQ, accounting and business at Reading at a sponsored degree with global professional services company PWC.
Beth Hill – A* in drama and psychology and A in history, psychology at Lancaster.
Amy Goodman – As in biology, chemistry and mathematics, biomedical sciences at Bristol.
Jim Robb – A* in economics, As in geography and mathematics, B in business studies and A in his EPQ, accounting and finance at Bristol.
Ben Logan – A grades in economics, geography and psychology, economics and management at Cardiff.
Laura Harrison – B grades in music, psychology and sociology to win a place at the Guildhall School of Music.
At AS Level, Emma Parker gained five A grades while Tom Skelton, Esme Newton-grain, Brooke Maskell, Ella Sweeny, Jacob Sanderson, Annabelle Silcock and Kai Wilkinson all received four A.
Carla Terroba-taylor completed her A Levels in one year ahead of moving to Spain and achieved an A* and two Bs in Spanish, psychology and sociology.
