Painswick back on top after Poulton victory

PAINSWICK completed a 61-run win at Poulton to leapfrog their rivals and go back on top of the Greene King IPA Gloucester­shire County League with two games to go.

Poulton, who began the day with a 12-point lead, restricted their visitors to 206-9, Luke Woolway top scoring on 60 as Charlie Buse and Oli Newman claimed three wickets apiece.

But Tom Hayward (4-29) and Jack Hobbis (4-46, both from nine) bowled out Poulton for 145.

Third-placed Corse & Staunton romped in by nine wickets over Cam, skipper Tim Dannatt hammering an unbeaten 94 off just 65 balls (14 fours, two sixes).

Rob Gummer (70 not) steered Redmarley to a six-wicket success over Chipping Sodbury while Olly Pearce (4-29) and Jonny Hardman (3-10 off nine) paved the way for Charlton Kings to dispatch Apperley by seven wickets and there were half centuries from Sam Bray and Jordan Stone in Lydney’s 98-run victory at Westbury-on-severn.

Thornbury II were crowned Division Two champions following an eightwicke­t triumph at Shurdingto­n.

Captain Greg Mallitte finished with 3-10 from nine as the home side were restricted to 169 before Ed Webb (53) and Praneel Choughle (45) paved the way with an opening stand of 105.

Gloucester AIW leapt into second with a 53-run victory over Cinderford St John, Ummer Jabbar finishing with 4-21 from nine.

Chipping Sodbury II are off the foot of the table after Reece Packer’s 5-33 set up an eight-wicket home win over Cranham who are now bottom.

Ullenwood Bharat edged Oldlands by nine runs while Andy Edwards’ 55 helped power Hatherley & Reddings II to a six-wicket win at Woodmancot­e.

Division Three pacemakers Chipping Campden slipped by 30 runs at Rockhampto­n II, enabling Aston Ingham to hit the front courtesy of an eight-wicket home defeat of Woodpecker­s.

Charlie Neale (4-31) sent Woodpecker­s sliding from 138-3 to 186 all out before Toby Hiram (65) led the charge for Aston Ingham.

Stone romped in by eight wickets at home to relegated Slaughters United to move out of the bottom two, where Frocester III sit following a 52-run reverse against Hawkesbury Upton for whom skipper George Bailey compiled an unbeaten 131.

Langford were crowned Division Four champions after a six-wicket win at Gloucester City Winget II, Harry Puffit bagging 6-28.

Tom Webley crashed 131 for secondplac­ed Great Rissington who beat Fairford by 63 runs while Dymock gave themselves a lifeline with a 25-run victory against Tewkesbury II, Harry Wise taking 5-37.

Birdlip & Brimpsfiel­d edged closer to the Division Five title with a 71-run defeat of Lechlade while Dumbleton II overwhelme­d Gloucester AIW Sports by 10 wickets, Will Gilderson taking 5-30.
