Roads closed for clear ups

THE A419 at Cirencester will be closed in the daytime until tomorrow.
Cotswold District Council says it will allow for workers to carry out a “deep clean” there and on the A40 at Andoversford.
Its service provider, Ubico Ltd, will be working in partnership with Gloucestershire County Council and its contractor Ringway to cut grass, clear litter and sweep surfaces on the verges of the A419 dual carriageway.
The work at Cirencester will include closing the road from the Kings Meadow roundabout to Preston Tollbar from 7.30 am to 5pm for the clean. The work started yesterday and runs until tomorrow.
Signed diversion routes will be in place and these have been developed in order for them to also accommodate heavy goods vehicle movements.
Rob Heath, Ubico’s area operations manager, said: “This is a real team effort, including ourselves, Gloucestershire County Council and Cotswold District Council. The work will be well planned and supervised to both enable our staff to carry it out safely and reduce disruption to motorists and pedestrians.”
Cotswold District Council’s cabinet member for the environment, Councillor Andrew Doherty (LD, Fairford North), said: “We know that long grass on verges can be problematic for motorists, especially on busy routes like the Andoversford dual carriageway and the Cirencester ring road, and I am very pleased that work will get underway soon to improve visibility.”
