Nursery hopes

Ex-teacher wants pre-school moved into house

AFORMER teacher is hoping to open a nursery for up to up to 27 children in a residential street in Cheltenham.

The plan is for the childcare business, The Little Kingdom Nursery & Pre-school to relocate from a church room to a house in Charlton Kings.

If the application is approved by the borough council, the nursery would run from a property in Little Herberts Road.

There would be up to 10 babies and toddlers with three staff upstairs and up to 12 children downstairs with two staff.

It would operate from 8am to 6pm, with a session from 8am to 3.30pm and what is described as a quieter 3.30pm to 6pm session.

Little Herberts Road runs parallel to Cirencester Road, coming off Timbercombe Lane.

The application also says concerns about noise would be addressed.

It says: “To reduce the noise volume to the neighbours we would soundproof any internal connecting walls and erect a higher garden fences to respect privacy.

“With a substantial space in the garden to disperse noise levels we do not feel this would become an issue, but we would limit the number of children in the garden at any one time and they would be supervised at all times.”

They applicant says they used to be a teacher and founded the business in 2013, starting from Charlton Kings Baptist Church which they feel they have now outgrown.

The nursery’s website says: “Here at The Little Kingdom we aim to create a ‘home from home’ philosophy towards your child’s care and education.”

Planners at Cheltenham Borough Council will make a decision in due course.
