» WICKETKEEPER-BATSMAN Gareth Roderick is to leave Gloucestershire to join neighbours Worcestershire at the end of the season.
The former Gloucestershire captain will move on after a memorable eight-year spell in Bristol in which he was part of the 2015 Royal London Cup winning side and a key player in last year’s promotion to Division One.
“After eight amazing seasons at Gloucestershire, this summer will be my last at the club,” he said.
“It has been such a privilege playing for this great club. There are so many people who deserve a massive thank you; from the coaches I have played under and who have helped me so much, through to the fans who have always been behind the team and myself.
“Lastly, the boys in the dressing room who have become part of my daily routine for the last eight years. You have provided me with memories and friendships that I will never forget.
“I wish the club and it’s talented dressing room all the best moving forward. I hope the next few months provide chances to make even more memories before my days in a Glos shirt are over.”
Durban-born Roderick was spotted by Gloucestershire whilst playing league cricket for
Cheltenham CC. He subsequently signed a two-year contract with Gloucestershire in the autumn of 2012, having qualified as a non-overseas player due to having an English mother.
Roderick has featured in all three formats for Gloucestershire since establishing himself as first choice wicketkeeper in his first season at The Shire when he averaged 48 in the County Championship.
To date, he has played 84 firstclass matches for Gloucestershire scoring 4,372 runs at 35.25 to go alongside 259 dismissals.
His career best score with the bat of 171 came against Leicestershire in Bristol.
