Call for awareness as lead thefts increase
» THERE has been an increase in lead thefts around the county.
Police have asked people to be extra aware as thieves could cause damage when taking the lead and officers leading the investigation are offering advice on how to protect against the thefts.
Kim Mowday, harm reduction advisor for Gloucestershire police, said: “The damage caused when lead is removed by thieves can be considerable and generally far above the cost of the stolen material.”
If you have been the victim of lead theft, report it to police by calling 101. If you see suspicious activity, call 999. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
