Cutting those locks down…

-

THE days of lockdown hair are coming to an end, and Cornwall hairdresser Hannah Woodgates has had her work cut out taming tresses while ensuring her customers stay safe.

But Hannah couldn’t wait to get back into her Bude salon. When the coronavirus crisis hit, she’d just moved into new premises and taken on more stylists.

“It was heartbreaking,” she says. “I actually I went into my garden and made a little video, which I posted. I was crying because I’d worked so hard to get to that point and I honestly thought I’d never open again. I didn’t see how I’d survive. It was devastating.”

So Hannah was thrilled to eventually open the salon’s doors again. “I’ve taken all the advice and regulations mega-seriously so that everyone is safe and feels secure,” she says.

A raft of safety measures means her clients should feel comfortable when they walk through the doors for their much-needed haircuts. They can now book on an app and the salon won’t be taking walk-ins.

Chairs are spaced out, staff are wearing masks and there are thorough cleandowns between clients – and no blow drying. There’s also a clearly marked one-way system in place and a screen around the card-only payment desk. And customers will notice there’s hand sanitiser available throughout the salon.

And the even better news for Hannah, if not for her clients, is that she’s booked up until September. “People are so glad to hear we’re back,” she says.
