POPULAR bar and restaurant Brewhouse & Kitchen have revealed the potential impact the Government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ could have on the hospitality sector.

The chain, which has venues in both Cheltenham and Gloucester, has said that the scheme is the ‘perfect solution to help businesses overcome the difficulties’ caused by Covid-19.

Brewhouse & Kitchen have sites in the Brewery Quarter and Gloucester Quays and has said that they ‘entirely support the announcement.’

It cames not long after the Gloucester Quays venue reopened and a day before the planned reopening of their Cheltenham site.

Like many bars and restaurants around the county, Brewhouse & Kitchen closed its doors back in March.

And regarding the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s comments, Kris Gumbrell, CEO of Brewhouse & Kitchen said: “The ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme announced by the Chancellor is fantastic news for the hospitality industry.

This decision is a win-win for both the government and businesses by allowing our venues to remain open, thus enabling us to un-furlough and save the jobs of our team members along the way. Of course, the public will also see benefits from this decision as well, not only will they once again be able to enjoy our great food and craft beer, but they will be able to eat out with a possible 50 per cent price reduction.

“Since the lift in lockdown, Brewhouse & Kitchen has championed the encouragement of spreading footfall and revenue across the weekdays; not only would this help to save jobs and businesses, but would also ensure the wellbeing of our guests and teams. The government’s decision to implement this scheme from Monday to Wednesday completely reinforces this initiative, and is the perfect solution to helping businesses such as ours overcome the difficulties caused by the pandemic.”

They went on to say: “We believe that ‘weekends are so 2019’; during lockdown, the weekdays felt like weekends so we are encouraging our guests to continue this sentiment by way of footfall and purchase power. Above all, the fundamental offer of Brewhouse & Kitchen - our great beers, food, unique experiences and terrific service - will continue to reside at the heart of what we do, and we entirely support the announcement made by Rishi Sunak.”

All of the brewpub sites have implemented a series of measures to safeguard guests and staff. For customers, this involves: online ordering and Order and Pay At Table systems with full table service, click & collect delivery, in addition to handsfree and footoperated door opening for all guest toilets.

There will also be table signage confirming cleanliness and sanitisation, new single-use disposable menus, hand-sanitising stations, safety notices and marked areas to main social distancing.
