GOING to the theatre or concert hall and seeing a live performance is a night out many of us like to enjoy and is another part of our lives that has been suspended during the pandemic.
Theatres and venues across the country, including Cheltenham Town Hall and Pittville Pump Room, have stood silent since March waiting to hear when they will be able to come back to life and resume the shows, concerts, events and performances that so many people enjoy.
Last week the Government announced a further easing of the Covid-19 restrictions which will allow theatres to reopen for indoor performances from August 1.
This is still subject to the success of national pilots currently being carried out.
Like many others The Cheltenham Trust, which manages Cheltenham Town Hall and Pittville Pump Room, has welcomed the news and is waiting to hear the guidance that will stipulate the social distancing measures that venues will need to meet.
It is expected that the guidelines will require reduced capacities and that it will be some time yet before large audiences are allowed.
This will impact on the financial viability of what venues will be able to stage.
The loved venues in Cheltenham may have closed in March, but the Trust has been working hard behind the scenes to reschedule shows and events and has added exciting new shows to an already busy programme.
2021 promises a packed itinerary for theatre and concert lovers.
A host of top artists are booked for the Town Hall, and tickets have been selling fast.
