IT’S finally open in new bigger town centre premises and diners have a chance to enjoy the delights of Japanese restaurant KIBOUSUSHI every day of the week

The award-winning Cheltenham restaurant has moved into what used to be Carluccio’s at 36, Regent Street and opens from noon daily.

It used to be shut on Sunday and Mondays in its old smaller location, also in Regent Street, and the expansion sees it take a prominent position near House of Fraser with longer opening times.

Japanese style cherry blossoms decorate the outside of the building and the inside is considerably more spacious than before.

The new restaurant has the capacity for 80 covers, more than three times its previous capacity of 25.

It opened at its old premises in 2013, replacing Cafe Rubik, and operated as a takeaway during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Customers can now dine in or have takeaways from the restaurant and see how the £450,000 refurbishment looks.

Ahead of opening, the restaurant, founded by restaurateur Emma Graveney, was planning to employ at least 20 people.

The restaurant has been designed by Q&A Interior Design Ltd with ‘a vision to transport customers to the bustling backstreets of Tokyo’s eclectic bar and restaurant scene.

The menu focuses on classic and contemporary Japanese dishes, plus an expanded cocktail and drinks range.

Out of 610 reviews on Tripadvisor,

KIBOUSUSHI has an average five-star rating - obviously from its previous restaurant.

Staff, food and environment were highly praised by diners while people who took advantage of its takeaway service during the pandemic height praised the familiar high standard of food.

Carluccio’s used to take the entire unit with entrances from Regent Street an the Regent Arcade itself.
