Forest Green get go-ahead for 1,000 fans to attend Bradford clash

-

FOREST Green Rovers’ home game with Bradford City on Saturday will be one of 10 matches permitted to admit spectators as part of the ongoing ‘return of fans’ pilot programme.

As per the current guidance, crowds will be capped at a capacity of 1,000 as discussions continue with the Government about return for supporters’ in greater numbers post

October 1. The move to extend the programme follows a successful pilot staged at Cambridge last week when fans were in attendance at a professional football match for the first time since March.

Chairman Dale Vince tweeted: “Very pleased we’re one of three (league Two) games this Saturday allowing fans back in. It’s season ticket holders only - it’ll be great to have fans at @Fgrfc_official as we welcome @officialbantams.”

Rovers have said that entry will be limited to season ticket holders.

The Nailsworth club were approached by the EFL on Tuesday morning with a view of hosting a pilot event - and were required to submit their decision by 2pm.

A statement on their website said: “The club has put in an exceptional amount of work into planning for the return of fans, and we are encouraged by the opportunity to allow season ticket holders into the stadium for this test event.”

There will be no ticket sales on the day of the match or advanced - and only those who have purchased a season ticket by 3pm on Thursday September 17 will be admitted.

Bradford City supporters will not be granted access, and the club will be carrying out checks on season ticket sales.

Appropriate measures have been applied at The New Lawn, with standing terraces and seats ready to welcome supporters.
