Great to get venues ready to host the Literature Festival
» FOR the past seven months Cheltenham Town Hall has stood closed due to the pandemic.
Tomorrow (Friday) the building opens its doors to welcome this year’s Cheltenham Literature Festival.
The festival dates back more than 70 years in Cheltenham and is a key date in the town’s cultural calendar.
This year’s socially distanced festival, with limited capacities, will be different as safety continues to be a priority but will be a reminder that life continues despite Covid 19.
Here at The Cheltenham Trust we’re making the final preparation at the Town Hall, Garden Bar and Skillicorne Gardens for this year’s programme of around 160 events.
This year’s festival, which runs from October 2 to 11, will be a mix of virtual and physical events, with many broadcast live from the town hall, in front of a socially distanced audience, masks will be required and the spacing of seats across the venue will feel somewhat roomier.
The Garden Bar in Imperial Gardens will be serving a range of hot and cold options in a weatherproof marquee, with an adjoining programme of events- including one of Gloucestershire’s favourite musicians Gareth Lemon - we are striving to make the week feel as close to the ‘new normal’, as possible.
So why not join us and support this ground breaking moment in the life of one of Cheltenham’s most historic occasions?
