Robshaw is a fantastic role model

THIS week saw Chris Robshaw, the Harlequins and ex-england captain, play his last home game for his beloved club against Wasps.

It was his 299th game for Quins – the last of a 15-year, one-club career will be at Leicester Tigers this week, making it 300 games.

I have followed Chris with interest over the years, as I believe he embodies what rugby is and upholds the values of our game.

He sets a great example to his teammates, of sportsmanship, heart, desire and a burning will to win whatever the circumstances.

Post-game he spoke so passionately about his club and what it meant to be a Harlequin, it was very emotional.

I know what it is like to play for one club for a long time, you become enveloped, and it becomes more than just a club.

When this is taken away from you it can take time to adjust. Chris is now going to play in San Diego, Major League Rugby, which will be an enjoyable end to his career.

His England career was remarkable having started in all 66 of his international caps.

Only Rory Underwood and Will Carling had more starts without ever coming off the bench for England.

He also finished his career with the second most England appearances as captain (43) behind Carling (59) but is the all-time leader in the professional era.

Some say that the 2015 World Cup defeat to Wales was a defining moment of his career.

Those who know rugby know that is not the case. His contribution to the English game has been remarkable.

Any parents who are unsure about their youngsters playing rugby, look at Chris Robshaw. Enough said.
