Tigers trip will open 2020-21 campaign for the Cherry and Whites

AS they prepare for the final game of the 2019-20 season at home to Northampton on Sunday, Gloucester’s 2020/21 Gallagher Premiership fixtures are out.

There are 28 days between the final game of 2019/20 and the first game of the 2020/21 season as the Covid-19 pandemic has delivered two back-to-back seasons.

Gloucester will open the new season at Leicester on November 21.

The first Premiership home game at Kingsholm will take place one week later, against Wasps on Saturday, November 28, followed by the visit of Harlequins the week after.

After a break in the Premiership season for European action, the

Cherry & Whites will travel Exeter Chiefs on Boxing Day, before hosting Sale Sharks at Kingsholm for the first fixture of the new year.

Eight Premiership rounds will take place on international weekends, starting with three during the Autumn Nations Cup, and continuing throughout all five of the 2021 Guinness Six Nations weekends in February and March.

Midweek rugby is not done with in 2020/21 either, with plans to play the Premiership Rugby Cup in between the packed weekends of league and European rugby.

It seems the schedule has not been set with restrictions on crowds at stadiums, with no apparent plans to show every game live as has been the case since Round 14 of the current season.

The date and times of the first six rounds of the 2020/21 competition have been set, with BT Sport making their selections for live coverage.
