Photographer’s search for ‘ET’ cyclist
THIS amazing image of the moon over Cleeve Hill has caused a social media sensation – and led to calls to find out who the cyclist in the frame is.
It was taken on Sunday at the Gloucestershire beauty spot by Susan Snow, who has kindly let the Gloucestershire Echo share the image.
She said it was a “lucky shot” and would love to know who was riding the bike along the face of the moon.
The image has been widely shared on social media, with many people making comparisons with the 1982 film E.T. the Extra-terrestrial.
The Steven Spielberg classic is full of iconic images, but none more so than that of character Elliott on his bike flying in front of the moon, carrying little ET in the front basket.
And some people on social media joked it could be Elliott from the movie, while it was also described as “otherworldly”.
Ms Snow replied: “How funny will it be if it turns out the person’s name is actually Elliott!”

Susan said: “I took this photo of the moon rising above Cleeve Hill on the evening of Sunday 27th September at 6.38pm from outside my home in Bishop’s Cleeve. It was taken with a Canon
EOS 77D attached to an Orion Shorttube 80.
“I had already taken some photos when I saw the cyclist approaching so I checked my settings and took the shot as they reached the moon.
“I’d love to find out who the cyclist is so I can show them the photo.”
