Sixth form pupils are sent home as teen tests positive for virus

PUPILS have been sent home from a sixth form bubble in Cheltenham after one teenager tested positive for coronavirus.
Parents were emailed on Monday (October 6) to inform them of the infected pupil at Bournside School.
Students in the bubble will not be able to return to the 1,700-pupil school, based on Warden Hill Road, until Friday, October 16.
Headteacher
Steve Jefferies said he recognised the news may be ‘upsetting and frustrating’.
In a letter to parents, he said:
“This is an isolated case and requires all students within the Sixth Form bubble to self-isolate for 14 days from the date of last contact which was Friday, October 2, 2020.
“In line with the national guidance, and guidance from Public Health England, we ask that your child now stays at home and self-isolates up until and including Thursday, October 15.
“Your child must not come to school or into any public areas, they must remain at home. Further details of what your child needs to do can be found in this NHS Guidance.
“We are asking your child to selfisolate to reduce the further spread of COVID-19 in the community.
“If you need any support with isolation, please contact Gloucestershire County Council.
“Other members of your household can continue normal activities provided your child does not develop symptoms within the self-isolation period.
“If your child is well at the end of the period of self-isolation, they can return to school and usual activities on Friday 16 October.”
