GLOUCESTER rugby star Danny Cipriani has shared a beautiful message of love and hope after his fiance had a miscarriage.

Sharing an emotional post on Instagram, the 32-year-old said the couple lost their first baby, who they had named River, at 24 weeks.

But Danny said his words shouldn’t be seen as “a sad post” - because he instead wants to spread a message of hope.

He told his 254,000 followers, he was ‘more determined than ever to keep growing, learning and loving with my woman’.

“It’s been a challenging year, for many different reasons,” he wrote. “I’ve had to emotionally overcome and heal in different ways that I haven’t experienced before.

“In doing so it brought up old trauma and wounds that were unresolved.

“Then the most beautiful thing happened, I was going to be a father and I fell in love. Deeply in love.

“For me falling in love was the scariest thing to do hence my behaviour over the years, she is the most magnificent, kind, wise, and beautiful person I’ve ever met.”

He added: “At 24 weeks we lost River, our son.

“Was and is always going to be difficult, but we supported each other through it and found our love grew and got stronger.

“This may seem a sad post, it isn’t. This break now from last season and reflecting is a special place to be.

“I’m more determined than ever to keep growing learning and loving with my woman.

“I’m also locked in to represent myself the best I can on the field which to this day I still don’t think I have done... The future is exciting it’s going to take hard work. I’m ready.”

Danny announced his engagement to girlfriend Victoria Rose back in August.

More than 19,000 have liked his most recent post, with dozens of people voicing their admiration for the sporting hero.

One person wrote: “So sorry for your loss. Your bravery in sharing about your loss will help so many people.

“You’re an inspiration.” Someone else said: “What an extraordinary show of compassion, empathy and courage. I salute your honesty - hopefully it can be a beacon for others.

“I wish you a restful break - come back fighting! Go brave Danny.”

And another person wrote: “Beautiful, honest post. You are an inspiration to me and many others. I wish you the very best in everything you do.”
