» The Parish Council Allotments Committee will hold a virtual meeting on Monday October 12 at 7pm. All members of the public are welcome to attend virtually.

Charlton Kings Parish Council has taken the difficult decision to defer a Community Open Meeting which had been scheduled for Thursday October 22 in the light of recent safety guidance issued in relation to COVID-19.

The Parish Council’s Community Open Meetings provide an opportunit­y for local residents to meet their Councillor­s, hear about the work of the Council and to provide input in relation to local issues.

The council is considerin­g the timing, format and focus of the deferred meeting in the context of emerging COVID-19 guidance, and an update will be provided in due course.

Charlton Kings Parish Council sets aside a sum of money each year to support community projects and applicatio­ns for grants may be submitted anytime between May and November.

Further informatio­n and an applicatio­n form can be downloaded from their website or obtained from the Parish Office. Grants awarded in 2020/21 - Charlton Kings Flower Club £300 towards the cost of delivering flower arranging sessions for those who may be socially isolated. Great Western Air Ambulance - £250 to support continued access to the service by local residents. Grants awarded in 2019/2020 - Happy Circle - £200 towards a dinner to reduce sopcial isolation. Cotswold Wardens - £350 towards maintenanc­e and fuel for a vehicle to transport tools for conservati­on working groups. Neighbourh­ood Watch - £250 towards the cost of security marking kits for bicycles. Charlton Kings in Bloom £350 towards planting around the War Memorial in 2020. Friends of Leckhampto­n Hill and Charlton Kings Common (FOLK) - £100 towards refurbishm­ent of the trailer used by their conservati­on parties.

Community Basic Life-saving and Defibrilla­tor training will take place on Saturday October 24 at Stanton Hall. This course is free and is run by the South Western Ambulance Service who sourced and maintain the defibrilla­tor that is located on the exterior wall of the Parish Office in Church Piece, Charlton Kings. In order to comply with COVID-19 safety guidance you must book in advance if you wish to attend this course. Numbers are limited and allocated on first come first served basis. The Sue Ryder “Walk to Remember” event on October 17 is a 5 or 10k walk in memory of a loved one. Get together with family and friends at a safe distance of course and use this as an opportunit­y to dedicate something to a person you love and simultaneo­usly raise vital funds to support Sue Ryder’s work at Leckhampto­n Court Hospice.
