Plan set up to make council carbon neutral

-

TEWKESBURY Borough Council has produced a 10 year action plan to become carbon neutral by 2030.

The action plan, which has received the backing of full council, reviews the council’s energy consumption across the entire portfolio of public buildings owned by Tewkesbury Borough Council, including the Public Services Centre and Roses Theatre.

The plan also assesses the carbon footprint associated with office waste produced by the council and the impacts of transport used by staff and councillors.

To help achieve its ambition, Tewkesbury Borough Council has sought specialist advice from independent consultant, Mike Brain, to help identify its baseline carbon footprint and energy consumption.

An independent charity and not-forprofit agency, Severn Wye Energy, is also supporting the council to achieve its carbon-neutral ambition. “I am delighted that we are making such progress in our carbon-neutral journey and have no doubt that we will meet our target.”
