It’s difficult to make sense of the information

- Angela Kent Gloucester

✒ WE all know Covid 19 is a life threatening virus, and it’s causing so many deaths and hardship and a worry to everyone in the UK and around the world.

I am having great difficulty with all the information we are getting on a day to day basis by the Government.

I realise the Government is doing its best by leading and advising us through this pandemic but I’m finding it hard to understand why we are receiving so many conflicting instructions on a regular basis.

I hoped that the university students would have been asked to do their studying from home, instead of migrating all over the country mixing and spreading the virus.

I’m not saying it’s all down to the younger people but it has proved that the virus has increased over this migration period and I feel sorry for the students who have caught the virus and are having to isolate alone without having loved ones to help out.

I wonder if the virus could be accurately tracked if local councils were put in charge of their local areas, to be involved in supervising, maintaining and isolating situations occurring at the time acceptable within their local areas.

Being able to liaise with the local hospitals regarding Covid 19 admissions would enable the councils to accumulate accurate figures as to how the virus is spreading and could be acted upon according to the threat involved at the time.

I would like to question why the GPS have not been more involved with the track and trace.

I would have thought they could be testing the patients who attend their surgeries in the same way the flu injections are run at this time of year.

I realise GPS are busy but patients I believe have not been attending the surgeries as often during this crisis.

Keeping the testing centres local would prevent ill people traveling such great distances to government testing centres.

Our country’s economy is suffering badly and if it could be possible to maintain all parts of the work force to keep running in areas where possible and to keep well and safe by continuing to maintain social distancing, working from home where possible, wear face coverings, wash hands regularly and be aware of the signs and symptoms of Covid 19 the country with low levels of the virus could continue with getting on with work and life as near to normal as possible.

Closing our borders would ensure Covid 19 would not be entering our country.

I believe Australia has closed their borders and are not even allowing internal flights and it appears they are managing the virus better than we are.

Boris Johnson has so far been working non-stop but sharing responsibility with local councils could help free him up to be able to respond to many other important issues making our country get back to business as usual and to strengthen our much-needed economy.

There will be an end to this situation but we all have a responsibility to each other to take as much care as we can and to keep ourselves as safe and well as we possible can.
