LECKHAMPTON AND CHARLTON KINGS

» The Parish Council Finance and General Purposes committee meet virtually on Monday at 3pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend - please contact the parish clerk to obtain your invitation. You will be unable to join the meeting once it has begun.

» Grange Field sits in the centre of Charlton Kings and is used for dog walking, games and as an opportunity to visit and attend the Summer Fayre. However for many residents it is just an area people cross to get from one place to another. Charlton Kings Parish Council acquired the lease of Grange Field from Cheltenham Borough Council in 2019. The parish council is very keen to encourage greater use of this fantastic community resource by all local residents and are planning some enhancements with a focus on wellbeing, health, fitness and nature. The Parish Council would now like your views on the ideas that have been put forward and on how the Field could be used to the best effect. By early November 2020 residents who live within half a mile of Grange Field will receive a leaflet through the door providing more detail and asking them to complete a survey and return it to the Charlton Kings Parish Council office in Church Piece by 20th November 2020. If you prefer to respond online and for residents living further away an electronic link will be provided in November to do this survey on the parish council website.

» The Parish Council would like to create a Friends of Grange Field group to work in partnership with them on the management and development of Grange Field. It is keen to find people who would like to be involved in ‘The Friends of Grange Field’ through this consultation. Please contact the Parish Office if you are interested in being part of something which ensures Grange Field becomes and remains an important amenity for Charlton Kings.

» Two consultations on the future of some health services in Gloucestershire have been launched. The local NHS wants to reorganise some services in Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General hospitals under a project “Fit for the Future”. If you want to have a say about possible changes you can participate via onegloucestershire.net/ yoursay or email to glcg.participation@nhs.net with your comments. Although I am not sure the future of our A & E department will come under these consultations it would be advisable to check and make what contributions we can.

» It is time for the T4U Shoebox Appeal when Christmas boxes are taken abroad for Romanian orphans. Collection points will be: Charlton Kings Baptist Church from Monday November 2nd to Friday November 6 daily from 10am to 3pm. Salem Baptist Church on Friday November 13 from 10am to 2pm and Saturday November 14 from 10am to 3pm.

» The parish council has funding available to support projects run by charities or community groups to improve the lives of local people or the environment in which they live. Grants generally start from £100 and the application process is very straightforward. Guidelines and an application form can be downloaded from the Community Grant page on the parish council website. If you have any questions contact the Parish office which is now open from 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday. Covid related safety protocols are in place for visitors.
