Campbell makes instant impact in Gloucester loan move
CHELTENHAM Town striker Tahvon Campbell scored on his debut afer joining National League North leaders Gloucester City on loan until January.
The 23-year-old former West Brom man has not featured in Robins boss Michael Duff’s first team plans this season and put City ahead against Farsley Celtic, who came back to win 2-1 with ex-robins loanee Jimmy Spencer scoring their winner.
He joined from Forest Green Rovers on a two-year deal in the summer of 2019.
Campbell made six League Two starts last season, along with another five from the bench, also featuring in the EFL Trophy and League Cup, but he is yet to find the net for the Robins.
Campbell has also appeared for Gillingham, Solihull Moors, Notts County, Kidderminster Harriers and Yeovil Town, during loan spells from West Brom.
Gloucester were without their two leading goalscorers Akwasi Asante, who joined Chesterfield last week along with manager James Rowe, and Matty Mcclure, who is recovering from a leg injury.
“He did really well,” Mcclure said of loanee Campbell.
“He got his goal from another set piece, which is what we’ve been working on. His all-round game and understanding was really good.
“Hopefully I can strike up a partnership with him when my leg is better.”
Campbell also played in their 0-0 draw with Boston on Tuesday.
Another Robins forward, Callum Ebanks, is set to join Evesham United on loan when the Southern League season restarts in early December, although there may also be interest in the promising 18-year-old from National League South.
Alex Addai is already out on loan at National League Maidenhead United for an initial month and has made two appearances off the bench so far.
