Covid compliance and environmental health officers are urging shoppers to stay local and stay safe. By continuing recent efforts to pull together and follow the guidelines, it is hoped Gloucestershire will avoid moving up from Tier 2 to Tier 3.

Tewkesbury Borough Council’s Environmental Health Manager Kath Stent said: “It is such a pleasure to receive reports from our community protection officers that businesses and residents across Tewkesbury Borough have been outstanding in their compliance with Covid regulations - it is thanks to their willingness to unite with the Environmental Health Team and follow the guidance, that infection rates have stayed low.

“However, we’re not out of the woods yet.

“We need to persevere with recent efforts with the aim of helping Gloucestershire move down to Tier 1 - we cannot let our guard down. Getting complacent may result in a move up to Tier 3 and stricter restrictions, which is not what anybody wants.

“Always remember - hands, face, space.”

Tewkesbury Borough Council’s Lead Member for Clean and Green, councillor Jim Mason, said: The low level of infection rate in Tewkesbury Borough is down to the public taking the necessary precautions and our businesses taking compliance very seriously. What’s going to be really important now, is for us to maintain this approach, particularly as the guidelines change once again.”
