Cage fighter Duncan set for next step with York Hall date

-

» ANTICIPATION is high for Gloucester-born cage fighter Christian Duncan who is preparing for his second professional fight at York Hall in London.

Christian, 24, from Podsmead is due to stay at the Crown Plaza from Wednesday for tests and quarantine before his big fight on Saturday, December 12.

The middle-weighter’s last contest saw him win by knockout seven seconds into the second round.

Christian said: “I am excited to be fighting at York Hall which is a historic venue.

“At the moment we are in final preparations and fine tuning my training. After my first professional fight, me and coach went back and watched the fight back. We assessed the positives and have got rid of the weaknesses.”

Christian is set to take on Lucas Marcinkoweski from Taunton who has four wins and two losses under his belt.

Christian said: “I do not want to get ahead of myself. I am taking one fight at a time, but we are rising. I have my foot on the ladder and building my career brick by brick.

“As we continue we get more recognition and as fighters progress in these competitions the UFC promoters have more us on us.

“I am making my way up through this competition but UFC is the ultimate goal.

“I am looking forward to the fight and very excited for it.”

Christian is trained by former UFC champion Mark Weir who has a martial arts gym in Gloucester.

Mark said: “Christian is 100 per cent ready for this fight.

“He has competed in enough amateur fights to be a professional. All of his experience shows.

“Every fight is important and laying the foundations for the bigger picture which is UFC.

“You have to do the apprenticeship. From amateur to professional, then to the UFC.”
