Late agony Injury-time goal ends Robins’ unbeaten run

We need to learn because that’s the fourth time now we’ve conceded a losing goal in the last three or four minutes of a game and that isn’t good enough, so that needs to be addressed

CHELTENHAM Town were beaten for the first time in seven League Two games as Bolton Wanderers snatched an injury time winner on Tuesday night.

Ryan Delaney scored from close range in the 91st minute after Lloyd Isgrove’s corner from the right was flicked on by Ricardo Almeida Santos.

It was the fourth time Cheltenham have a lost a game late on this season and means 41 per cent of their goals conceded have come after the 75th minute.

I don’t think we deserved to lose, I know that. We played OK,” said manager Michael Duff.

“We weren’t brilliant, but we did all right and landed on enough chances, but something didn’t drop for us and we had good opportunities when the final pass was not good enough.

“You take the compliment, Bolton have come here and are time-wasting in the last 10 minutes, so that shows you we’ve become a tough team to beat.

“But we need to learn because that’s the fourth time now we’ve conceded a losing goal in the last three or four minutes of a game and that isn’t good enough, so that needs to be addressed.

“The frustrating part is that nobody has cut us open and they’ve all been from dead balls, so it’s concentration.

“People get given their jobs and they need to do them properly.

“The overall performance was all right. Bolton are a good team and once we worked out after the first 10 minutes what we needed to do, we did it and it was just the final ball was not good enough.

“We still had enough opportunities to win the game and a draw would probably have been a fair result.

“You will always take a point in the 90th minute because you’ve had 90 minutes to try and win the game and neither team has done enough.

“You are still hoping something will drop for you, but it dropped for them.

“The lads have been good all season. We have switched off at moments in games, but even in those games, has anyone really ripped us yet? No.

“We are still in the top three and it’s close, but there is no overreaction and the last three performances have been good.

“Four points from three games people might say it’s not enough, but it’s better than none. We’ll keep moving on.”
