Over 50s get chance for vaccines as two walk-in centres open

-

TWO walk-in Covid-19 vaccination centres are being opened in areas where the vaccine uptake “could be further improved.”

Over 50s yet to get their jabs will now be given the chance to go to centres in Rosebank Health in Tredworth, Gloucester and St Paul’s Medical Centre in Cheltenham for one day only.

They will be given the opportunity to talk with doctors and other health care professionals about getting their first dose and coronavirus.

The walk-in service will available on Saturday, April 3, from 10am to 4pm.

Rosebank Health is located in Pavilion Family Doctors in Stroud Road and St Paul’s Medical Centre is in Swindon Road.

The local NHS teams will evaluate the success of the walk in service at the two centres to see if the approach could be rolled out to other parts of the county as the vaccination programme develops in the coming weeks.

Dr Jonathan Layzell, GP lead in the Rosebank centre, said: “We are really pleased to be able to trial this service, building on the success of the vaccine roll out to date.

“We want to reassure local people that we have got a friendly, professional team here on site who are happy to answer questions, provide information and listen to any concerns they might have.

“We are encouraging all those eligible people aged 50 and over, who have yet to take up their offer of vaccination, to do so to protect themselves, their loved ones and their communities.”

People aged 50 and over should not attend the walk-in service if they have already made an appointment for a vaccine, already received their first dose or have had a positive Covid-19 test in the past four weeks.

Car parking is available but it is limited.
