Josh confirms next actor to take on royal role

CHELTENHAM’S award-winning actor Josh O’connor has let slip that Dominic West will play Prince Charles in the next two series of The Crown.

The 30-year-old actor, who won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Charles in the Netflix hit, let the cat out the bag during an interview about his latest role.

While discussing Romeo and Juliet he said it was good to move on from playing the heir to the throne but that doesn’t mean he didn’t enjoy it.

“I absolutely loved it,” he said of the lavish production.

“But the reason I wanted to be an actor is to play different people.

“Playing that character has brought me a lot of joy. But it’s lovely to come away and go, ‘Great. Now hand it over to Dominic West.’”

After inadvertently confirming that 51-year-old West is taking over the role before Netflix has made any announcement, he added that it would be funny if The Affair actor wanted help with Charles. “If Dominic West came to me asking me for advice, I’d laugh him off. I’d be like, ‘Dom! You’re Dominic West!’”, he said.

The 30-year-old actor, who won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Charles, confirmed the news during his chat in with GQ Hype.

He and Emma Corrin won the Golden Globe for the latest series of The Crown which covered the Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ troubled marriage throughout the eighties.

Much of it was set in Gloucestershire where Princess Diana was said to be lonely at Highgrove House near Tetbury.

But West won’t be just nipping over the border because all the Highgrove scenes were recreated at Somerley House in Hampshire.

Josh portrayed a young Prince Charles in 2018 in season three and continued this role in the latest season.
