Appeal for informatio­n after pedestrian in 60s seriously injured

A PEDESTRIAN in his 60s has been left seriously injured after being hit by a Citroen van near Cheltenham on Monday.

The man was involved in a collision with the white Citroen Dispatch van at The Yarnolds in Shurdingto­n shortly before 10am.

The collision took place close to the village post office and police were called to the scene.

The man was taken to Gloucester­shire Royal Hospital with serious injuries but remains in a stable condition at this time.

The van driver, 42 and from Gloucester, has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.

A statement from Gloucester­shire Constabula­ry said the arrested driver had been released under investigat­ion and called on anyone with any informatio­n or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

The statement said: “Emergency services were called to The Yarnolds in Shurdingto­n at 9.50am with a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and white Citroen Dispatch van. “The collision took place close to the village post office and the pedestrian, a man aged in his 60s, was taken to Gloucester­shire Royal Hospital with serious injuries. He remains in a stable condition at this time. “The driver of the van, aged 42 and from Gloucester, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs and has since been released under investigat­ion. “Investigat­ing officers are asking anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police to make contact. “Officers would also like to hear from anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident that they feel may be relevant. “Informatio­n can be submitted to police by completing the following online form and quoting incident number 116 of 13 December. “Alternativ­ely informatio­n can be provided by calling police on 101 and quoting the same incident number.”
