Boutique hops into first space since it was founded
AN entrepreneur has moved the homeware design business she founded while furloughed during the pandemic into its first office space.
After designing a lampshade while decorating her daughter’s bedroom during the national lockdown, parttime bookkeeper Sam Spencer established Orange Frog Boutique when she identified a potential wider market for her creations, after parents at her local school expressed an interest in them.
Since its launch in July last year as an online shop, the business has continued to specialise in lampshades but has expanded its product range to include cushions, pouffes and ornaments.
Ms Spencer said the “quirky nature” of the company’s products had proved popular, with orders being placed online across the country, and that the venture had outgrown the office she and her mother were operating from at her home. Orange Frog Boutique has now moved into a space at the Space Business Centre in Quedgeley, near Gloucester.
Its new base will act as a manufacturing centre, administration and shop.
Ms Spencer said: “My dream would be for this to be my full-time job and be able to hire staff and grow as an interiors business – securing this new unit at Space Business Centre sets me on my way to that.
“It’s a perfect space for us and the rolling contract reduces all the risk a small business takes when taking up its first commercial space.”
Katy Lawson, site manager at the Space Business Centre, said: “I can well understand people wanting to design their own furnishings in order to be different from buying off the high street and in large stores. I can see how Orange Frog would be just perfect for them.”
Space Business Gloucester is owned by property investment company AC Lloyd and is one of the firm’s two centres in Gloucestershire.
