BURTON Albion are thought to be keen on prising midfielder Dan Crowley month. away from Cheltenham Town next

The 24-year-old midfielder’s short-term deal with the Robins is due to expire in January.

Manager Michael Duff has confirmed an offer has been made to former Arsenal youngster Crowley, who arrived two months into the campaign.

He did appear for Cheltenham in their 8-1 pre-season win at Hereford FC and also spent time on trial at Doncaster Rovers and Gillingham during the summer, but started the season without a club.

After Callum Wright was ruled out of action with a knee ligament injury, free agent Crowley was snapped up by Cheltenham at the start of October.

It was feared Wright would miss around six months, but the Leicester City loanee was back in contention after less than 10 weeks.

Crowley has made 11 starts and three substitute appearances in all competitions, regularly exciting fans with his close control, dribbling and passing ability.

He went on from the bench in the 72nd minute of last Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with Lincoln City, which left Duff’s side 14th in the table after 21 games.

Burton, managed by former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, are one place higher in the standings.

When asked about Crowley’s future at the weekend, Duff said: “I had a conversation with Dan on Friday because obviously he got left out of the team on Saturday, but it has nothing to do with the contract situation.

“The team we picked was one we thought could go on and win the game.

“Dan’s been made an offer, so the ball is in his court, whether he decides to sign it or not.

“He is a good lad, a good kid and obviously he’s a good player, so we’ll wait and see.

“It’s not something I am in control of, so I won’t worry about it too much.”
