Bird owner’s appeal after ‘Kiwi’ cannot be found

-

A BIRD owner is appealing for information after being left ‘heartbroken’ following the mystery disappearance of her beloved pet parrot.

Rhi Evans, who lives in Bibury, says her baby parrot, Kiwi, is her “little soulmate”.

On Monday December 20, Rhi noticed that Kiwi was nowhere to be seen in her home.

Rhi, 28, said: “I knew there was something wrong within five minutes, because she’s usually stuck to me like glue. She’s normally with me all the time; she wasn’t in her cage as she was allowed out around the house.

“When I was looking for her inside, I was calling her and I heard her respond but it sounded like she was quite far away. It was at that point I realised she was outside.”

Rhi, who works as a session musician, has pondered the ways in which her beloved Kiwi could have gone missing, after finding a ‘tiny gap’ up in her loft which leads outside. She has also wondered whether a postperson or delivery driver opened her door to deliver a parcel, and Kiwi escaped then. “I’ve handreared a lot of birds and I’m used to having birds inside. I rescue turkeys, too.” Rhi said. “I do music so I work from home, it’s really nice because I can spend time with my birds - I’m so vigilant with them.

“My animals are my life, Kiwi’s absolutely everything to me. Honestly, I have never felt heartbreak like this every day is getting worse without her. “Usually she’s stuck to me like glue. Everywhere I go, she’s there - she sleeps next to my bed.”

Rhi is urging anybody who has seen Kiwi even briefly, or has any leads, to contact her by phone on 07377 716747.
