Don’t worry about Corrie collywobbl­es when it comes to fitness. Coronation Street’s Beverley Callard has been teaching keep fit classes and bringing out fitness videos for more than 20 years selling more than a million copies.

1989

Footballer Vinnie Jones had to stay in peak condition during his playing days. He once sid: “Football became my life at five or six. The earliest memory I have is of playing in my first pair of boots”

1985

Go for the burn. Oscar winner Jane Fonda inspired people all over the world to put on leg warmers and leotards to workout with her bestsellin­g fitness videos.

1992

Actors Tim Healy and Denise Welch and footballer Bjoen Kristenson line up for the launch of the Macmillan Mile in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

1970

The Force is with you. David Prowse was a fitness instructor before he found fame first playing the Green Cross Code Man and then Darth Vader in the original Star Wars films. The 6ft 7in tall bodybuilde­r turned actor weighed in at 19 stone back in the 1970s.

1965

Licence to workout. Roger Moore starred as The Saint on TV before he took on the role of James Bond. He needed to be in shape for the TV series and sparred with Nosher Powell at Joe Bloom’s Gym to prepare for one boxing scene in the ITV programme.

1996

Who is a heavyweigh­t heavy? Eastenders bad guy Leslie “Dirty Den” Grantham traded in lifting pints at the Queen Vic to lifting weights in the gym when he opened a new centre in Tring.
