Tyre Group becomes new sponsor of Gloucester City AFC

-

THE Tyre Group, owned by the Gloucester-based Freeman family, will be the main sponsor of Gloucester City AFC’S shirts for the 2022/23 season.

The Malvern Tyres brand will feature on City’s home kit, with the County Tyres brand on the away kit.

Co-chairman Alex Petheram said: “The shirt sponsor is such an important and visual piece to our brand and club.

“I couldn’t think of a better partner to work with us than Chris and his family.

“They see, understand and support our plans not just for the first team but how we wish to engage with the community as a whole.”

Chris Freeman, MD of the Tyre Group, added: “It’s great to see the football club grow within our city.

“My late father was passionate about supporting the club and local community, seeing the work being put in with the community around youth, ladies and disability football makes it a pleasure to support and help move the club forward on and off the field.“

City co-chairman Eamonn Mcgurk added: “My relationship began with the late Rob Freeman as teenagers right through to the opening of the new stadium. During the build we walked the stadium together many times and prospered about our journey going forward … sadly we only managed a few games.

“It’s testament to his name to see the family continue with such passion for the club and local community as a whole – total respect.”

City recently announced a threeyear kit supply deal with Kappa.

Dave Bandell, Kappa’s UK sales manager, said: “We are delighted to partner up with such a progressive and forward-thinking club like Gloucester City.

“After visiting the club, it’s clear they share Kappa’s vision of inclusivity and community involvement.

“I’m sure over the length of the contract the club will go from strength to strength and Kappa are excited to be part of this growth and hope to provide kit and leisure wear that the fans will be proud to wear.”

Gloucester Sport CEO Jay Marriott said: “We are really excited to be joining forces with Kappa.

“We have a great relationship with them through the Gloucester City Queens on the basketball side so it made sense to collaborate once again on the football side.

“We have been impressed with the samples we have seen so far and will be launching a brand new home and away kit for next year in the coming months as well as a new off-the-pitch range.

“We want to be able to offer our loyal supporters a new merchandise range that will be value for money and lets them show their colours with pride.

“Agreeing this deal with Kappa is a big signal as to where we want to take this club.”

The last film, Murder Incorporated, was shown at the Gaumont in Northgate Street, Gloucester before the cinema’s closure after 50 years.
