Appeal Police try to trace pair as man left fighting for his life
POLICE are still trying to identify and speak to two men after a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
The incident on Regent Street in Cheltenham occurred at around 1.15am on Sunday.
The man was found unconscious in the street. Police officers went to the scene, along with paramedics, and the 27-year-old was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.
However, the man’s condition deteriorated and he has since been transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he remains in a ‘critical’ condition.
Gloucestershire Constabulary initially made an appeal to identify seven pictured men in the hope they would be able to assist with the investigation. The force revealed yesterday that five of them had come forward.
Officers have now renewed their appeal to trace the remaining two men, and have re-released CCTV images of the pair. Police believe they may have witnessed what happened.
Anyone who may be able to help with the investigation, or can identify the pictured men, has been asked to get in contact with police.
The initial appeal, which was released on Monday, said: “Officers are appealing for information after a man sustained serious head injuries in Cheltenham on Sunday 24 April. Police were called to Regent Street at 1.15am after it was reported that a man had been found unconscious outside 21 Club and had injuries to his head.
“Officers attended along with paramedics, and the 27-year-old was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.
“The man’s condition deteriorated and he has since been transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he remains in a critical condition.
“Investigating officers are trying to establish what led to the man’s injuries, and anyone who has information about what took place is asked to come forward.
“At this stage of the investigation, it is believed that there were a number of people in the local area around the time the injured man was discovered.”
The statement said anyone who could help the investigation or could identify the men in the CCTV images was asked to give information to police online by completing a form on its website, quoting incident 26 of 24 April.
