Civil Service take title with win at Chalford

GOALS from Joe Bermingham and Brett Blake sealed the Northern Senior League Division One title for Cheltenham Civil Service as they beat nearest rivals Chalford 2-1 on Tuesday night.

Johnny Davis replied for Chalford. On Saturday, Ryan Harry and Jack Hughes scored as they beat Charlton Rovers 2-1.

The relegation battle sees seven sides fighting to avoid joining Harrow Hill in Division Two.

Next-to-bottom Whitecroft beat fellow strugglers Woolaston 3-2, Mason Cunliffe (two) and Joe Harrison on target with David Harvey and Gareth Rose replying.

Abbeymead Rovers are in the bottom three after losing 1-0 to Elliot Martin’s goal for Longlevens Reserves.

They are level on points with Andoversfo­rd and Woolaston, with Bredon two points ahead after a 0-0 draw with Lydney Town Reserves, and a 1-0 win over Charfield on Tuesday thanks to Jon Leary’s goal.

Brockworth Albion are 10th, four points above the drop zone, with Charlton Rovers a point above them.

Four sides are chasing the three Division Two promotion spots, with Stonehouse Reserves top by a point after Ben Carman rescued a 1-1 draw at Frampton Reserves on Tuesday, following thieir 3-1 win at King’s Stanley on Saturday, Nathan Beachus, Josh Butler and Macloud Moyo scoring and Adam Harley replying.

Second-placed Smiths Barometric­s won 2-1 at Leonard Stanley on Tuesday thanks to Louie Barnfather and Callum Debonis, Connor Webb replying and FC Lakeside are another two points back in third with Falcons fourth after Saturday’s 3-1 win at Viney St Swithins, Richard Gamble, Alin Neamtu and Ben Carter scoring, Ben Wilkins replying.

The battle to stay up is between five sides, with Lydbrook Athletic doomed. Jacob Ashley (two), Kasey Davies, Scott Reynolds (two), Joe Slack and Chris Sutton scored as Bibury hit them for seven on Saturday.

Broadwell Reserves and Winchcombe are three points from safety, Broadwell losing 4-0 to Chesterton on Saturday thanks to Harvey Biggs, Brad Robinson, Kyle Walker and Karl White.

Above them are Frampton Reserves and Leonard Stanley, the latter winning their meeting on Saturday 2-1 with goals from Isaac Thurston and Leonardo Russo.
