BISHOP’S CLEEVE

» The Parish Council will be holding a photographic exhibition in the Parish Office on June 2, 3 and 4 to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, including “Images of Bishops Cleeve” by John Burton.

If you have any photographs relating to the Coronation, Silver Jubilee, Golden Jubilee or Diamond Jubilee that we could include in the display we would be most grateful.

Please bring them to the Parish Office where staff will take your details and we will return them to you. All personal details will be covered by data protection. If you wish to send them by email the details are clerk@ bishopscleeveparishcouncil.gov.uk.

The Parish Council will be keeping a record of events in the village during the Jubilee and would appreciate you giving your consent to copy any of the photographs.

Further can you or your relatives recall any special memories of events covering the Queen’s celebrations?

If you are willing to share these with us, we will include them with our collection of memorabilia. Members of the Parish Council are looking forward to meeting you at the exhibition.

» The Methodist Church in Bishop’s Cleeve is hosting an Exhibition of Banners entitled “Paradise Restored”. These textile banners were made as part of The Christian Arts Festival in 2019. The banners are now touring various venues and our church has been invited to be one of them. They were made by various Churches, groups and individuals in the Cheltenham area, rather than professional textile artists.

They explore in a colourful and thoughtful way , our responsibility for God’s creation and our abuse of the environment. The Exhibition will be open to the public from Monday May 23 until Fridaymay 27, between 1pm and 4pm and on Friday May 27 from 1pm to 8 pm. » Funding information from the Midcounties Coop - £150 vouchers available. To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, our Local Community Grant Funding will focus its priorities around specific support for events linking to local celebrations that see our communities take the opportunity to come together.

Eligible groups may apply for up to £150 of funding which will be distributed in Coop Vouchers and redeemed at a local Midcounties Food Store. Any local group/charity meeting the application criteria may apply to the fund, but their event will need to demonstrate alignment with the following theme directly linking towards delivering Community led events which bring people together to celebrate during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

In most cases the applicant will be informed whether vouchers can be offered to support their celebration event no later than Friday May 27 (two weeks after the fund closes for applications). This then gives enough time for the voucher to be collected and redeemed in advance of the main National Jubilee weekend from June 2 – June 5.

» St Mary’s Church is holding a Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at 4pm on Sunday June 5. Afterwards there will be refreshments after the service. Everyone is welcome to go along to St Mary’s to mark this unique event.
