Graham gets on his bike for 100-mile plus ride round the capital
WHILST Bourton Roadrunners is principally a running club, several of its members do enjoy other sporting events.
Graham Lane, although carrying a running injury was able to take-on the annual Ride London, cycling over 100 miles.
Similarly, Derek Derby looking for a new challenge discovered the 4x4x48. This involves running four miles, every four hours for 48 hours..
In the Stroud Beer Race, Bourton had four members competing in this Gloucestershire County series event.
First for the club was Darren Long (47:23) and first MV50, followed by Maxine Emes (56:0) second FV40.
Liz Hulcup and Gill Carrick finished (65:14) first FV65 and (65:45) third FV60 respectively.
The Fairford 10k is also part of the Gloucestershire AAA County Series, and Bourton had 10 runners competing, with Long being first home again in a time of 39:30 and third MV50.
Next to finish was Ian Tolfs with a PB of 47:20.
Other Bourton finishers included Lorna Shawcross, (49:20 PB), John Harding (51:04), Hulcup (first LV65) and Carrick (54:10).
Allie Quinn, using the race as part of her marathon training, ran with Janice Townsend, both recording 62:17.
Jenny Evanson, running her first 10k finished in 79:07 and Shirley Creed ran with Mike Ford of Tewkesbury AC, who is in his 80’s finished in 79:39.
For the children there was also a 3k fun run, two BRR juniors taking part Pippa and Chloe Krzywiec. Pippa was first overall and first under 13 while Chloe was third under 13.
