Delight for Dendy as she beats parkrun PB

ALMOST Athletes’ Patricia Dendy smashed her 5k PB at the Five Arches parkrun in Radstock - managing a wrong turn before finishing as first female home in 19:50.

Joanne Johnson was also first female over the line at Porthcawl in 21:21, while Kate Nichol was first female Almost home at Forest of Dean in 29:56, and Graham Stopp landed a top 10 finish with 25:51.

Issy Ravenhill was in the top ten at Cheltenham in 23:38 closely followed by Sarah Wood in 25:10 while at King George V Playing Fields Nick Lewis and Rosemary Hubbard were placed third in their gender categories with sub-30 finishes.

John Johnson ran 21:16 to finish in the top 10 overall at Gloucester City and at Evesham Elliott Jordon and Jeanette Gullick were in their gender top 10 in t21:51 and 23:27 respective­ly.

Dave Nelson, Kate Bestwick (with daughter Sophie) and Sue Sturgeon provided a trio of representa­tives at a chilly Quakers event while at Peel in Greater Manchester Matt Polson marked a landmark 250th parkrun with 18:39 which earned him a top 10 placing.

Almosts were also present at Berkeley Green, Gloucester North, Chipping Norton, Tamworth Castle Grounds and Poolbeg.

Claire Hawes enjoyed a bright but chilly Otterton Reindeer 10k down on the East Devon coast.

Internatio­nally, Forrest Wheeler, left, survived a blister scare a few days prior and intense humidity to complete the 28th Angkor Wat Internatio­nal Half Marathon in Cambodia on route to family in

New Zealand.

Closer to home veteran Allan Green completed the Lanzarote Marathon in 4:47 while Neil Tring and Lorraine Taylor enjoyed the Mediterran­ean sun for the Half Marathon event in a joint time of 2:21.

Wan Hartley achieved a PB in 2:07 at the Bordeaux Half Marathon while in Cologne Paul Jones was one of 32 entrants to the Koln parkrun.

Almost stalwart Ela Antosiewic­z organised and ran the inaugural Cheltenham Festive Elf Walk in aid of Maggies on Sunday assisted by Craig Jackson who led an 8k walk route around Cheltenham.

They were joined by members Kate Bestwick, Zakia Hussain, Jason Hulance and event marshall Dave Nelson.
