-

» TWO scores from number 8 Josh Gray topped off a superb second-half display which saw Hartpury register a seven-try 47-29 Championship win at Coventry.

They battled through a first half that saw them lose two players to the sinbin before pulling away in 12 fourthquarter minutes that produced 26 unanswered points.

A strong start from Coventry saw Hartpury concede two penalties the second of which saw centre Jack Reeves despatched to the sinbin following a collision of heads with Ryan Hutler, ex-gloucester and England man Matt Kvesic scoring from a fivemetre attacking lineout for a try that Evan Mitchell converted.

Hartpury applied pressure of their own and Jarrard Hayler was driven over for a try, which Harry Bazalgette upgraded before he was yellow-carded

Coventry exploited their advantage with a second try before Hartpury won a penalty try when James Tyas collapsed a maul and was sinbinned.

This left Hartpury with a 14-12 interval advantage and Josh Gray forced his way over for a score which Bazalgette upgraded. before Mitchell kicked Coventry back within one score and they regained the lead when Hutler scored a try which Mitchell improved.

But Hartpury bounced back and drove prop Mikey Summerfield over for a try, which Bazalgette converted, which triggered a 12-minute spell during which Hartpury scored 26 unanswered points.

Gray got their fifth try which Bazalgette converted, then Danny Eite raced over and Matty Jones rounded off Hartpury’s scoring spree before Coventry grabbed a try bonus point through Will Wand’s converted try.
