Harris returns to Weston on season-long loan deal

-

» CHELTENHAM Town’s back-up goalkeeper Max Harris has joined National League South outfit Westonsuper-mare on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old rejoins the Seagulls after Exeter City recalled keeper Harry Lee from loan for his third stint at the club following spells with in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, when they were in Southern League

Premier Division South.

Harris, inset, made his return for Scott Bartlett’s side in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Welling, ex-robins striker Reuben Reid scoring twice.

He then kept a clean sheet as Weston beat Worthing 4-0 on Tuesday to move up to 11th in the table. “I’m delighted to be back at Weston-super-mare and looking forward to getting back to playing games and hopefully helping the team climb up the table,” Harris said.

“It’s great to be back with the lads again and can’t thank the gaffer enough for bringing me in.”

Bartlett added: “Max is a terrific goalkeeper and it’s a great signing for us. With Harry Lee’s loan (from Exeter City) situation uncertain beyond January I have kept in regular touch with Cheltenham and I’d like to thank my old teammates Daz (Darrell Clarke) and Russell Milton for allowing us to take Max back in.

“Max enjoyed his time here before and jumped at the chance to come back which is a huge compliment to our supporters, staff and players”.

Harris played at National League South level for Bath City during the second half of last season and has made three appearances for the first team this campaign, all of which have come in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
