Harris strikes to send Robins into Trophy final

-

ELOISE Harris scored the only goal of the game as Cheltenham Town Reserves booked their place in the final of the GFA Women’s Trophy with a 1-0 won over Gloucester City.

After a goalless first half, Harris’ effort with just over 15 minutes left was enough to see the Robins book their place in the final on April 18, against AEK Boco, who were 7-1 winners over Downend Flyers.

In the Women’s Challenge Cup, Longlevens will face Bitton Development in the final on April 11.

Bitton were handed a bye when Ellwood were unable to raise a side, while Longlevens had 11-0 win over Mangotsfield United

Reserves, with hat-tricks for Olivia Kosylowicz and Lucy Dannatt while Mel Hoad scored twice with Lorraine Smith, Hayley Pitt and Hannah Bingham also on target.

Cheltenham Town were edged out 2-1 by Oxford United in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier at Court Place Farm.

Phoebe Poole gave Cheltenham the lead just after half time but a Zoe Barratt double quickly turned the game round.

Poole finished into the top left corner before Ellie Noble lofted a ball over to Barratt who lifted the ball over Amber Watson to level the game within two minutes, then Izzy Cook, who signed from Cheltenham for the U’s in summer, chased down a loose ball and took it round Watson who brought her down and was shown a yellow card as the referee pointed to the spot.

Barratt stood up to convert the penalty into the left side netting and turned the game on its head with her second goal.

In Division One of the County Women’s League, Rebecca Harris scored as Bishop’s Cleeve were beaten 4-1 at home by Bristol & West, while in Division Three, goals from Josie Baldwin, Bethany Cole, Steph Davishyde and Chloe Mayo saw Mitcheldean to a 4-1 win over Downend Flyers Development, and Ashton Keynes lost 6-2 to University of Bristol.
