917 FAIRWAY WOODS
KEY TECH AIMED AT New face and sole channel increase distance on off-centre hits Huge range of adjustability caters for every ability and preference HOW MUCH TBC
Joining the headline act of the 917 drivers are two new 917 fairway woods, which Titleist says offer more distance and forgiveness thanks to its most precise customisation ever.
Both the 917F2 and 917F3 feature a second-generation Active Recoil Channel and the new SureFit CG sole adjustability found in the drivers.
The former helps the faces flex and recoil at impact more efficiently to launch the ball faster and therefore further. The new sole-channel design also now has an elastomer insert with a hollow core for more consistent deflection across the face.
The SureFit CG adjustability then provides precise customisation through an interchangeable weight system that optimises spin and launch conditions, as explained in more detail to the right.
As with the drivers, this interchangeable weight is housed in a streamlined design that saves weight, which can then be used to increase the club’s overall forgiveness.
A Variable Thickness Face Insert that is thinner around the perimeter also delivers forgiveness as it increases ball speeds on heel and toe strikes for better off-centre results.
Like the drivers, a 16-setting SureFit hosel allows you to adjust the loft and lie independently to optimise your flight, while two head choices again help you narrow everything down to your exact needs.
The 917F2 offers more spin and a higher launch for a higher trajectory and more forgiveness; the 917F3 provides extra control, less spin and comes in a more compact profile.
Both clubs (price TBC) are available from October 21, with the F2 coming in 13.5˚, 15˚, 16.5˚, 18˚ and 21˚ lofts, and the F3 in 13.5˚ and 15˚ lofts.
Both fairways will also come with four premium stock shaft options – the Aldila Rogue M*AX, Fujikura Speeder Pro TS, Mitsubishi Diamana Limited S+ Blue and Mitsubishi Diamana Limited M+ Red, along with other custom options.
