Cobra’s product guru tells us more about the design of the King Speedzone range

-

The King Speedzone hybrids are available in variable and one-length options and feature the same Hollow Split rail as the fairway woods.

Last but by no means least are the King Speedzone irons, also available in variable and one-length. They are said to deliver extra distance thanks to two strips of carbon fibre that replace steel, both on the topline and underneath the topline in the 4 to 7-irons. The wide-body Speedback shaping returns to lower the CG and increase forgiveness, while the Pwrshell face features an updated E9 structure that creates more energy return via a deeper undercut channel.

How does the Xtreme driver differ and who is it for?

The Cobra King Speedzone range goes on sale on January 24, 2020 with the following RRPS: drivers £349; fairways £229; hybrids £189; irons £699 in steel, £799 in graphite.

Tell us how you’ve improved the CNC milled face?

The milling is not only on the front of the face but it also goes around the perimeter. This allows us to control face thickness and curvature. We’re milling 95 per cent more of the face now, which is going to increase the trampoline effect to help golfers hit the ball further.

It’s for golfers who want to find more fairways. We took away the front weight, pushed the length back so it has a larger profile and positioned a 17g weight in the exhaust pipe at the back, along with the 6g sole weight. Pushing all that weight away from the face makes it our most forgiving driver.

Other than more distance, what was the focus with the King Speedzone irons?

We want to have the best-feeling irons in the game-improvement space. We know we’ve got the distance, but with the co-moulded medallion system and forged Pwrshell face we’ve incorporated, we’re creating a sound and feel that’s closer to that of a forged iron.

“The driver looks faster, sleeker and easier to align. If it delivers what it promises, the value on offer here is through the roof”
