The new Adidas Codechaos is unquestionably one of the more eyecatching shoes on the market in 2020. As the name suggests, the shoe is designed to be unlike anything else on the shelf. Visually, there’s a lot going on, but there are plenty of performance features that golfers will enjoy.

The first thing you’ll notice is the soft, spongy feeling underfoot when you slip them on, thanks to the full-length Boost cushioning. It definitely has a trainer-like fit and feel – light and mobile, although there is some support in certain areas of the shoe thanks to the sections where the rubber from the sole folds over.

The outsole feels a little thin, but that helps you get closer to the ground and we can’t fault the grip on offer. It provided a stable footing from a variety of different lies and wet ground conditions didn’t seem to make a difference. The coating covering the breathable upper repels water and dirt so it doesn’t stain and is easy to clean, although the Boost sections and material strip at the back are less easy to keep looking pristine.

The spikeless design of Codechaos means you also get to-and-from-course versatility, as well as the performance you need while playing. There are more stable options out there, but for golfers who prioritise comfort and grip over everything else, Codechaos is certainly a shoe to try in 2020. It also comes in a high-top style with Boa lacing and a more lightweight sport version, all providing good value for golfers who want to try something different from the norm.
