Evnroll 2020 Putter Range £309

-

Said to possess the “sweetest face in golf”, Evnroll has expanded its putter offering in 2020 with fresh shapes and stunning new finishes. Created by putting guru Guerin Rife, each model is 100 per cent milled and features a unique mill pattern. This is engineered to deliver uniform performance across the entire hitting area by altering the amount of contact surface that imparts energy into the ball at impact. The parabolic, subtle V-shape of the grooves, which re-direct the ball inwards, helps ensure the ball stays on line and doesn’t lose speed.

The line is spearheaded by the new ER10 Outback, a high-moi mallet that features a lightweight 6061 aluminium body secured to a 303 stainless steel boomerang-shaped weight at the rear.

The aluminium section is coated with a scratch-resistant, ‘murdered out’ black armour finish. Milling the grooves directly into the aluminium face rather than using an insert is said to provide the look better players prefer.

The ER1.2B is an all-black version of the classic ER1.2 Tour Blade, which has a slightly thicker toe section, a thinner heel section and a hollowed-out hosel to position the centre of gravity right in the middle of the face.

Other models completing the range are the ER7B – an all-black version of the popular ER7 mallet – the ER5CS, a centre-shafted winged mallet, and the ER2CS, a centre-shafted, heel-and toe-weighted flange blade putter.

For a slight upcharge, the putters are available with the Gravity grip, which boasts an ultra-light EVA foam body with a 70-gram steel rod running the length of its lower spine. This helps the hands feel and maintain a square putter face through the hitting area.

The 2020 Evnroll putters are on sale now with an RRP of £309 for the ER2CS, £319 for the ER5CS and £349 for the ER1.2B, ER7B and ER10 Outback.

In the centre of the face, where the putter’s CG is located, the contact surface is very narrow, which reduces the amount of energy transferred to the ball. When the ball is struck away from the CG, it will not travel as far, so the contact surface progressively increases to impart more energy into the ball.

Why are there two dots on top of the ER10 Outback putter near the face?

They frame the sweetspot but also assist in executing breaking putts. On a right-to-left putt, the golfer positions the toe-side dot behind the ball. This moves slightly more of the putter’s mass below the intended target line, keeping the putter’s face from rotating shut.

How does the Gravity grip help square the face more often?

By positioning two thirds of the grip’s weight along the underside of the grip, the hands, with the help of gravity, can feel the angle of the face through impact. If the underside of the grip is facing down, the toe of the putter head is facing up. This creates a parallel alignment with the putter face.
